IN CONVERSATION WITH LOUD LUXURY
interview by JANA LETONJA
With a sound built on euphoric hooks and cross-genre fluidity, Loud Luxury, the Canadian-born pairing of Andrew Fedyk and Joe De Pace, have quietly become one of the most dominant forces in global dance music. From the viral success of Body to a steady stream of multi-platinum hits and collaborations spanning pop, hip-hop, and country, their rise has been defined as much by instinct as by scale. Now, amid a packed festival circuit, a Las Vegas residency, and the release of their new single COLORADO, the duo enter a new phase, one that reflects both their evolution as producers and their ability to translate emotion into something built for the dancefloor.
COLORADO marks the start of a new wave of music. What can you tell us about the track?
Andrew: COLORADO feels like the perfect way to kick off this next chapter for us. We aimed for something catchy, but went for a less is more approach. There’s really only 4 things going on in the whole song which is our most minimal approach yet.
Joe: Zohara’s vocals really brought that to life. We focus on vocals first and there’s something so undeniably catchy about this hook we based the entire song around it.
How does this new material reflect where you are creatively right now?
Joe: We’re in a place where we want everything to feel bigger, but also more intentional. We’re really passionate about people being able to hear a song and know it’s us.
Andrew: COLORADO kind of hits that mark perfectly. It’s fun and sexy which is what people expect from us but done in a different way.
Are you approaching this next phase differently from your earlier releases?
Andrew: Trying to release way more. We got caught up in a lot of early releases where we would overthink everything, whereas now we’re down to play around and move onto other songs more because you never know what is going to resonate.
Joe: At the same time, we’re still very selective. Even if we can release a song a month, no one except well our team is hearing the 100 no joke that get axed to get here.
What keeps your sound evolving while staying recognizable?
Joe: We started off speeding up vocals all the time just because we’d rather make things at 120-135 BPM no matter the song. We’ve always kept that as sort of “sample” type vibe, even if it’s an original song.
Andrew: On top of that, we’re a sucker for 4 chords. I think that’s what makes us a bit more “pop”. It’s always 4 chords.
You’ve had a huge run of shows this year already, from Ultra to Stagecoach. How does it feel to be in this moment?
Andrew: It feels amazing. Ultra is obviously such a huge moment for dance music, and Stagecoach was special because it shows how wide the world has gotten for us. We’ve always loved crossing into different spaces, so to be able to play those kinds of stages in the same year is really exciting.
Joe: It also makes us grateful. We’ve been doing this for a long time now, and to still feel like things are growing - bigger shows, new fans, new markets - that’s the best feeling. It keeps us hungry.
Your sets are known for their energy. What’s the key to building that connection with a crowd?
Joe: You have to actually pay attention. Every crowd is different. Sometimes you walk on stage and they’re ready to go from the first song, and sometimes you have to build that trust with them.
Andrew: We always want the set to feel like a party, but not in a random way. Part of our sound is lots of vocals, moments people can recognize always with a twist. It sometimes gets accused of being a little too open format but we use those moments to put people on to music they never knew they wanted, by blending it with something familiar.
How has your residency with Wynn Nightlife in Las Vegas shaped your approach to DJing?
Andrew: Vegas teaches you how to read a room very quickly. At XS and Encore Beach Club, you’re playing for people from all over the world, and not everyone is there for the same reason. You have to find the common thread fast.
Joe: It’s made us sharper DJs. You learn how to balance our own records, new music, classics, edits, and moments that surprise people. The residency keeps us on our toes because the standard is so high every night.
You’ve worked with artists across genres, from Bebe Rexha to Nicky Jam. What do you look for in a collaborator?
Joe: A point of view. It doesn’t matter what genre they come from. Whether it’s pop, country, Latin, hip-hop, etc., we’re drawn to artists who have something interesting to say.
Andrew: The best collaborations happen when both sides make the record better. We don’t want to just put a vocal on a beat. We want it to feel like a real meeting point between their world and ours. It’s honestly imperative that we become best friends with whoever we work with because it’s like you’re carrying a child into the world, but it’s a song.
How do you adapt your production style to different artists while keeping your identity intact?
Andrew: We try to build around what makes that artist special, but still keep the foundation of what we do by focusing on groove, melody, energy, and clarity.
Joe: If the artist has a certain tone or emotion, we want the production to support that rather than overpower it. But at the same time, when the drop hits or the hook comes in, it still needs to feel like Loud Luxury.
Body was such a defining moment. How has your relationship to that track evolved over time?
Joe: Body changed everything for us. At first, you’re just trying to process what’s happening because it takes on a life of its own. Now, we can look back and really appreciate what that song did.
Andrew: We still love playing it because it connects instantly. It’s become bigger than just a record for us, it’s part of our story. But it also motivates us. We’re proud of it, but we never want to be defined by only one moment.
With more music coming this summer, what are you most excited about for the next few months?
Andrew: We’re excited for people to hear the range of what we’ve been working on. COLORADO opens the door, but there’s a lot more coming that shows different sides of where we are right now.
Joe: And we’re excited to play it all live. That’s always the real test. When you see people react to new music in real time, whether it’s in Vegas, at a festival, or at our Toronto show on 1st July, which is going to be legendary, that’s when it becomes real.
